Leafy the Toad

Grace is not scared of much. She loves to try to catch lizards, skinks, rolly pollys, worms and other creatures. A few weeks ago she finally caught her first toad. They named it Leafy and it quickly became Graces best friend. Really. Her and Sara made it a little playgroung, with obsticles, and a little bed and very rarely put it back in the bug box. They laughed as they put Little Leafy in the grass and let it hop a few hops before catching it again. She even kissed it. Later when I thought the toad had enough I told Grace she had to let it go. And when she did she cried for her best friend back. Really. Her best friend. After waking up from her nap she cried some more. Sad to say when she checked later Little Leafy did not make it back to the woods. Sweet Grace loved her Leafy to death. Here is a picture so we will always remember Leafy the Toad.

It wasn't too long after that when she caught her first-and her last- lizard. Since she loved her toad to death we told her to leave the lizard in the bug box and not to take it out until she was ready to release it.
She did really good until she just couldn't take it any longer. She opened the box, reached her hand in and screamed!! Her lizard bit her. Don't try to tell her that lizards don't have teeth because she will tell you they do! She does not want to catch a lizard again!

An eye for an eye! In other words, 'what goes around comes around!!'
